  • Turning Energy Blue with Zero CO2 Emissions During the CRU Nitrogen + Syngas USA Expoconference 2025, our Technical Marketing Manager for OASE® Gas Treating Excellence, Tiffany Chen highlighted how industries can achieve their sustainability targets by effectively removing carbon emissions. How does our CO₂ removal process work? The CO₂ removal process begins with the introduction of feed gas containing CO₂, H₂S, and COS into the system. The feed gas flows counter-current to an amine solution in the absorber, where chemical absorption occurs as CO₂, H₂S, and COS are absorbed by the amine molecules. The amine solution, now rich with absorbed gases, is referred to as the rich amine solution. This solution then flows into the stripper, where it encounters counter-current steam, leading to thermal desorption. Here, the absorbed gases are released from the amine solution due to heat and pressure changes. The amine solution, now free of absorbed gases, is called the lean amine solution and is recycled back to the absorber to capture more CO₂. Finally, the separated CO₂, H₂S, and COS are collected for further processing or disposal. This entire process, utilizing Acid Gas Removal Units (AGRU) with amine technology, is essential for separating CO₂ from process gases and flue gas streams. Get in touch with our expert, Tiffany Chen and discover how BASF's innovative solutions contributes in decarbonizing the energy industry. #BASF #OASE #Decarbonization #CleanEnergy #CarbonCapture
