BASF Oilfield Chemicals creates chemistry, and with that comes a dedication to understanding how the science works in real-world applications. Understanding the scientific foundation and performance of our demulsifier chemistries was the aim of a recent training session at our dedicated Oilfield chemicals lab in Houston, Texas. If you think a lab training would be reserved for only our technical experts, think again. The training, conducted by NBD Manager Stefan Dilsky, brought together the lab and sales teams for a deep dive on demulsifiers – how they work, why they work and when they work best. With 15 years of R&D and field experience globally, Stefan emphasized the importance of thinking holistically about product performance, from the lab to the well. Our focus on cultivating deep technical knowledge across functions means that both our sales and scientific teams can work effectively to understand customer challenges, so that we can provide customers with the right solutions. #thisisoilfield #oilfieldchemicals #teamBASF #demulsifiers

In May 2024, we proudly announced our decision to invest in expanding the production of our Basoflux® portfolio in Tarragona, Spain. Since that announcement we’ve worked hard to achieve the milestones we set. First up, we aimed to increase production of our novel, nano-dispersion #paraffininhibitor technology, Basoflux® PI 6410. This was completed in October of 2024 allowing us to produce market-leading quantities of our proven, winterized paraffin inhibitor. Our Phase 2 plans in Tarragona are well on their way! We’ve achieved initial production efficiencies that have optimized costs for select Basoflux® products, resulting in benefits for our customers. May is #NationalInventorsMonth in the U.S., and we couldn’t let it pass without a spotlight on an invention critical to the BASF Oilfield Chemicals portfolio - Basoflux® PI 6410. ❄️In some parts of the world, oil crews operate in environments as cold as -40 degrees C/F, and it’s common in these climates to have waxy or paraffinic crudes. These can be treated with chemistry (#paraffininhibitors), but in Arctic conditions transporting and storing chemicals is a challenge, as most freeze in the remote fields.❄️ Customers needed a high-performing paraffin inhibitor, at a sufficiently high concentration, that could remain liquid at extremely low temperatures. The solution didn’t exist, so #TeamBASF invented it! Creating chemistry that enables customers to perform at their maximum, #thisisoilfield.
