Aluminum Finishing Aluminum anodizing is an electrochemical process that enhances the natural oxide layer on the surface of aluminum. This process improves corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and surface hardness, and it allows coloring the metal for decorative or branding purposes. How It Works: 1. Preparation: The aluminum part is cleaned to remove oils, dirt, and existing oxides. 2. Electrolytic Bath: It's placed in an acid electrolyte bath (usually sulfuric acid). 3. Electrical Current: An electrical current is passed through the bath with the aluminum as the anode (positive electrode). 4. Oxide Layer: Oxygen ions from the electrolyte combine with the aluminum atoms on the surface, forming a thick, porous oxide layer. 5. Sealing: The porous layer can be sealed with hot water or chemicals to improve durability and lock in any added dyes. 🌱 Sustainability in Action: Pinghu Site Recognized for 100% Renewable Electricity 🌟 At Chemetall, we are committed to sustainability. We are very proud to share that our largest production site worldwide, located in Pinghu, China, has been recognized by the local government for its outstanding achievements with regards to sustainability. 🏆 The site is powered entirely by renewable electricity through the purchase of green electricity and the implementation of 2,500 m² of rooftop solar panels, resulting in an estimated reduction of 2,700 tons of CO₂ emissions in 2025 alone. ⚡🌞 🌬️ Thanks to these initiatives, the Economic Development and Ecological Environment Bureau in Pinghu Dushan Port sees our site as a reference for green and low-carbon transformation to other chemical firms in the industrial district of Pinghu. We are very honoured to receive this recognition. For us it is also a a major step toward achieving our global sustainability target of using 80% renewable electricity across all Chemetall sites by the end of 2025. Last week, Ricky Chua, our Key Industry Manager for Plastic Recycling Southeast Asia, joined various industry leaders in a panel discussion on “Emerging opportunities in plastic circularity: A feedstock perspective” at the 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.   A key focus was the importance of leveraging technology in driving plastics recycling.
