📦 Did you know that the fibers in paper or paper board #packaging can be kept in the recycling loop up to 25 times? ♻️ To help unlock this potential, BASF is part of the 4evergreen alliance which brings together over 100 leading companies from across the entire fiber-based packaging value chain in Europe. The goal? To raise the bar and achieve a 90% recycling rate of fiber-based packaging by 2030. We are contributing in several workstreams and are part of the Steering Group. 👏 Congrats to Prof. Dr. Thomas Schiele from our EMEA dispersions business who has just recently been re-elected as a Steering Group member! Another important milestone in #recyclability of #packaging: On 29 August 2024, the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR) published the new minimum standard for #recycling-friendly packaging. It now also recognizes barrier films that include not only polyethylene (PE) and #polyamide (PA) but also ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) for high oxygen barrier as recyclable. These film structures are commonly used for sausage, cheese and meat packaging. For the first time, adhesive-laminated PE/PA film structures are now also recognized as recyclable in the minimum standard.
